I’ve tried the Hook Fish location in SF before and loved it, but this location took it to another level. Hook Fish is a sustainable and fairly local seafood restaurant that specializes in entrees like fish and chips and fish tacos/burritos.
On this trip we went with the grilled fish of the day burrito and of course some fish and chips. Everything was delicious and amazing! The battered fish is the best I’ve ever had. The burrito tastes flavorful yet healthy at the same time. You also can’t resist pouring some of their unique hot sauce on each bite to add even more flavor. They had a pineapple juice drink that I tried which was also a nice touch without too much sugar.
Parking is a bit crazy as this location is super central to anyone driving around Muir Woods but once you find parking the inside is beautiful. There are so many outdoor tables and even a pristine modern looking bar inside.
So glad I finally got to visit their other location in the Bay Area. You have to go!
Their fish and chips were a true standout, perfectly crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. The fish tacos were equally delicious, with a tantalizing combination of flavors that left me craving more.
What’s more, this place had a great selection of local brewery beers to complement the seafood dishes.
The ambiance of the outdoor seating area/ beer garden was simply delightful. Dog friendly.
Just five minutes from our vacation rental, we're glad we tried it right away because it's so good we ended up eating here four times! We tried the fish & chips which are so good my wife ate them every visit. I tried them as well as the fish tacos and the fish sandwich with the catch of the day. All three were so good I really can't choose a favorite.
The beer selection is outstanding, and yeah...you do have to stand in line to make your food and drink order, but their system does work well.
Only complaint is they didn't do well at keeping iced water available for those wanting it, and sent my wife next door to get an iced tea...which ended up being good, so no prob.
Great place to kick it after a solid day or climbing or surfing. They have a nice open outdoor bar with a lovely patio area. The turf and string light vibes. The food was okay because it was a bit bland, but the drinks make up for it. The ceviche chips could use a bit more salt and lemon.
Two words: Absolutely delicious! The fish and chips were light, crispy, and flavorful. The black cod plate was colorful, tasty, and perfectly cooked. Both were perfectly portioned. The poke nachos were also a great start to our meal. If this wasn't enough to convince you to check this place out, they also have a bar with great beer and cider options on draft! Oh, and their outdoor patio is such a welcoming, inviting space to bring your friends, coworkers, or family to.
A very popular and busy place. Good beer selection. Food options are good too. Parking available right next to the place. Could be a line to order food which is then brought to your table. Tables are fairly big and can seat a small party. Prices are decent which was a pleasant surprise in this part of the bay area. We enjoyed our time here after a long hike in the redwoods.
Amazing rockfish and and chips. Crispy and seasoned! Low standards but most places screw this up. Would go out of my way to come back. Beautiful outdoor patio seating. Great place to stop by after a hike by Mt Tamalpais.
Total Hipster spot, not really into that but I can't complain about anything. Food was amazing, Staff was friendly, atmosphere was calm and chill. Ceviche and chips were absolutely amazing.
